Alona Cortes, PA certified homeschool evaluator and homeschooling mom

Hi! I'm Alona.

I'm a mother of four who has been homeschooling since 2016, and a certified elementary and special education teacher with a Master's in Special Education. Since 2013, I have tutored and taught students of all ages and abilities, giving me a deep appreciation for personalized, student-centered learning.

My role as an evaluator is to support families. I view evaluation as a relationship built on trust. I am here to help you navigate Pennsylvania homeschool law with confidence while protecting your freedom to teach your children in a way that reflects your values, goals, and rhythms. I do not approach evaluations as a gatekeeper — I see myself as a guide who stands beside you, not above you.

I believe homeschooling should feel life-giving. I want my families to feel encouraged and understood. When I meet with you, my goal is to highlight the progress your child has made, identify strengths, and offer practical ideas that simplify your year.

Over the years, I have worked with families across many learning styles and needs, including gifted learners, students with learning differences, nonverbal students, and children with IEPs.

Every child is unique, and homeschooling gives space for natural strengths to develop. During evaluations I focus on growth rather than comparison. I look forward to partnering with your family.
